Ode to a Cell Phone
by Mary Louise;Town Jaqua, Health Minister, 5/8/2025

My cell phone is my best friend,
I take it wherever I go,
It puts the world at my finger tips
And tells me all I need to know.

I have the latest news and weather
Right in the palm of my hand;
I can connect with friends and family
And watch videos on demand.

What's the weather today, I wonder-
Well, I will pull it up to see...
It says there are showers in the morning
But then sunny it will be.

My cell phone is my office,
It's my library and camera, too-
I can snap a quick, new selfie
And send it right off to you.

I manage my money on my phone-
It's as easy as can be-
I move my money here and there
So convenient it is for me.

I can book our dream vacation
And reserve an Airbnb,
I can buy tickets to the Super Bowl
As a treat for the whole family.

My cell phone is my trusty map-
It has GPS, you know
So it points me in the right direction
And shows me where to go

My cell phone takes me shopping-,
No need to go to a store,
I buy whatever I want
And have it delivered to my door.

I shop for trendy shoes and fashions,
Pots, pans, toys, and tools,
I order furniture, books, and Smart TVs,
And splurge on flashy jewels.

I buy wild salmon from Alaska,
T-bone steaks and vintage wine,
Caviar in alfredo sauce is a favorite-
In luxury I like to dine!

The kids like a gooey pizza,
So I order a 20" delux
With pepperoni, 'shrooms', and double cheese
The cost comes to 50 bucks!

I go to the supermarket on my phone
And buy everything we need-
Meat, eggs, milk, and bread-
All that gives us a good 'feed.'

I order fresh-baked pies and cookies
And add them to my bill,
It takes awhile to process all this,
So I just sit tight and be still.

I am the consummate cyber shopper,
An avid, veteran consumer
I exercise my phone fingers daily
As a form of amusement and humor.

Start 'em young and start 'em smart-
Give 'em all a phone
Teach 'em how to surf and text
So they'll never feel alone.

I say, cell phones are handy pacifiers
When the kids get unruly-
I tell them all to grab their phones
And start watching a movie!

Tune in to friends and family
While you drive around or walk
High tech is a modern miracle
So let's all talk, talk, talk.

The broader the band the better-
That's why I prefer 5G
Connecting faster and faster
Makes my phone happy as can be.

People say I'm well connected
And I agree it's true
For I have multi social media accounts
Apps, AI, and Blue Tooth, too.

Yes, I am a plugged-in person
I am Wi-Fied to the hilt,
I am powered by cell towers and satellites
On technology my world is built.

I know that I am cell-fish
But that's the way it has to be
For time on my phone is important
So leave me alone, don't bother me.

I say, cell phones are the greatest invention
Since the dawn of man
It seems there's nothing they can't do
That's why I'm such a fan.

I admit that I'm addicted-
My cell phone has me hooked;
I guess there's no way around it-
I'm a goose that's really cooked.

Some say that cell phones are deadly
For they fry your brain and more...
Cause cancer, dementia, heart attacks
And serious problems galore.

So if I die of cell-phone-itis
Don't mourn or cry for me-
Just bury me with my smart phone
And I'll rest in peace for eternity.

Twice Nominated for the Nobel Prize, Robert O. Becker Was Silenced for His Groundbreaking Research on Electromagnetic Fields. By all accounts, Dr. Becker should have been celebrated as one of the foremost scientific minds of the 20th century. Instead, he became a cautionary tale—of what happens when science dares to challenge power.
