Conclusion
Though
there were many other fabulous finds that I
discovered in the forest this year, it is
enough to share
a few highlights lest you get lost in the
woods! To be
sure, I enjoyed every minute of exploring the
trees,
forest floor, downed brush, and roadside
landscape
around the cottage. I gazed up and down,
poked here
and there, knelt down, and nearly stood on my
head to
view and photograph the wonders of the woods.
With
each forest find, I was amazed to discover
some
of the vast varieties of mushrooms that
exist. Likewise I was surprised at how strong
they are and quickly
grow. Many varieties shoot up through thick,
dense soil
and turf in order to see the light of day and
'bloom.'
I called them 'earth movers!" Some
mushrooms literally
appeared over night. They were 'here today,
gone tomorrow' types.
As
much as I enjoy roaming around outdoors,
however, I am not a 'tree hugger' much less a
radical
environmentalist that worships nature!
I worship YHVH Almighty and appreciate His
handiwork which is excellent beyond
words.Thus my
walks are in essence a supreme opportunity
for me
to meditate upon my heavenly Father and His
word
while I experience the marvels of His
creation.
For all the healthy
benefits that forest foraging offers,
however, there is an important warning:
never eat anything wild without first
properly
identifying it. Even after
doing so, taste a small
sample to see if it agrees with your body,
i.e. no
adverse affects such as numbness of the
tongue,
redness or swelling of gums, nausea, etc.
This important rule is a life saver.
This being said, I hope that you have enjoyed
walking
in the woods with me and will consider
becoming a
forest forager yourself. Indeed, there is a
certain and
real benefit to 'unplugging from the world'
and taking
time to immerse one's self in YHVH's world
wherein there is rest, refreshment, and
inspiration.
Happy foraging!
The earth is YHVH's, and
the fulness thereof; the world, and they that
dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon
the seas, and established it upon the floods.-
Psalms 24: 1, 2
The
heavens are thine, the earth also is thine:
as for the world and the fulness thereof,
thou hast founded them.- Psalms 89:11
YHVH
that made the world and all things therein,
seeing that he is Ruler of heaven and earth,
dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as
though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth
to all life, and breath, and all things; Acts
17:24, 25
