Outrageous finds

As I was walking along the cottage road one day,
I happened to look up and saw a mushroom
that was growing about 7' up the tree!
Never have I heard of such an outrageous feat
much less seen one.
The mushroom was BIG, about 8" in diameter
and there were small, black bugs all over it
which told me that the mushroom was old.
Judging from the pronounced gill structure,
I took it to be a Chanterelle mushroom,
probably a false one, but I am not sure.
I have never known Chanterelles to grow on trees.
Perhaps this is a freak of nature.

I found a family of Hedgehog mushrooms (above)
growing along the driveway of a near-by cottage.
The larger 'shroom' was a good 10" wide.
It was almost grotesque. Hedgehog mushrooms
are edible, but who would want to eat such a thing?
