2. Ministry update
It is now June, the month of May having evaporated quickly in a multitude of activities that marked the transition of the seasons: putting winter to bed, gearing for the garden season, and more. A few weeks of warmer--than-usual weather at the end of April allowed me to jump right into planting our garden. I sowed several varieities of greens, beets, and cold weather edibles. By now they are up and running and almost ready for early harvesting. Our herbs have been flourishing for over a month and are finding their way into our raw soups, salads, smoothies, and entrees. As we savor the rich and delicate flavors of the season, we are ever thankful for the knowledge of living food and to eat as well as we do! We are thus off to enjoying a spectacular garden and a summer filled with outdoor activities. Soon we will be opening up our lakeside cottage in the woods, where we will happily retreat for rest and relaxation when our schedule allows. The theme of our health meeting this month will be, 'Learning to Live!' Join us for an in-depth presentation about how to re-invent your lifestyle the natural way.
Learn what to do and how to do it and why. You'll discover what constitutes a healthy life through proper diet and exercise. If you've never given your lifestyle a thought, this presentation will hopefully inspire you toward a better quality of life. Join us for the sake of optimum health! Surprise yourself by 'going LIVE!' For more details visit http://www.livway.org/meetings_healthOur monthly meetings continue to gain increasing, positive response. Reruns of HANDS-ON HEALTH are being aired on Channel 7 Public Access TV. These broadcasts afford us to take the health message into over 1500 homes in our area. We are meeting people in stores and on the street who are watching our shows. They are enthusiastic about what the information we're sharing and are thankful for our efforts. We are glad that the health message is going out and interest in healthier living is increasing. If you are unable to attend our HANDS-ON HEALTH meetings in person or want to catch the reruns, watch us on Channel 7. For scheduling information, contact Channel 7 at 453-9895. Many have asked if we could do more raw food demonstrations. The answer is a qualified, Yes. Presently we do a couple demonstrations per year. Owing for the amount of time and preparation that goes such an endeavor, we are currently unable to present them more frequently. Our next live food demonstration will be July 10 at our HANDS-ON HEALTH meeting. The demo will be a kick-off for our annual Live Food Picnic in August, so plan on joining us to see how live food happens. Those attending will enjoy the benefit of tasting the LIVE EATS! To encourage you toward healthier living, I have made some updates to our website. New posts include a section on Preparedness. Considering the uncertain times in which we live, I felt to share important information that may prove valuable to you someday. I'll be adding to this section on an on-going basis, so check in periodically for updates. Topics presented are water purification, survival food, supplements, sprouts, seeds, natural and home remedies, survival skills/techniques and more. We recommend that you bookmark this page for reference http://www.livway.org/prepare.htm
New also to our website are photos of our Miracle apples from our 2007 harvest. You may want to check this page out to see how you can experience Miracles in your garden: http://www.livway.org/livingphotos_apples.htm If you are not up-to-speed with current health issues, we encourage you to investigate independent news sources on the internet and elsewhere. A couple of reliable news sources are listed below in this letter. We are living in a day of increased politcal, social, and economic challenges that affect our lives in many ways. For the sake of your wellbeing, educate yourself by becoming informed. On a final note, I always have an eye out for healthful information so as to better help you on your journey toward optimum health. Currently I am studying a few important topics and making contacts for future presentations. Thus my personal crusade for a healthier world continues. Suffice to say, there is much to learn and I am happy to share knowledge that I believe will benefit you. So, stay tuned. There's more to come!

3) Featured article: Be Healthy!
It is no secret that one's lifestyle is a matter of personal choice and those choices tend to be highly personal. To challenge one's personal preferences can be as dangerous as trespassing on private property. Nevertheless, as a health minister, I accept the risk of personal affront for the sake of people's well being. Though defenses often go up, walls of resistance surface, and the air often becomes stiff as Ideliver the health message, I will always speak the truth. Lives are at stake, and the life that needs to be rescued might be yours. While everyone's take on life is different, one fact remains: we all have needs that must be met on a daily basis. Eating is one of them. If we don't eat, we won't survive. Given this fundamental phenomenon of the human body and it's need for physical sustenance, why not eat as though your life depends upon it? Why go through the motions of eating, when, in fact, you are not nourishing your body? Poor lifestyle choices, especially in terms of diet, are a waste of time, money, and energy, not to mention lives. Poor choices are destructive in nature, because they violate the laws of nature, i.e. the body's natural way of being. Hence, a wreckless lifestyle can end up costing a person personal misery in terms of ill health, emotional trauma, and financial stress. When it comes to living, healthy lifestyle choices are the best. We have only one life to live, so why not make it an excellent one? This simple approach to life often challenges people toward a quality of life that they do not know exists. Hence, there can be hesistation, doubt, unbelief, and even skepticism when it comes to embracing a healthy lifestyle. Adopting new habits, especially healthy ones, means breaking away from familiar patterns and traditions that are proven harmful. This process is called 'change'. Oddly enough, most of us were taught principles of health that were not healthy. We were schooled and perhaps even degreed in matters relating to health, but in the final analysis we failed to learn how to properly care for ourselves. We were taught to accept sickness, pain, disease, and even death as the natural course of life, when in reality they are not. Physical, emotional, and mental distress are the very antithesis of life. Ask anyone who is suffering the ravages of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, fibromyalgia, MS, or kidney failure, etc. if he or she is enjoying life. I doubt the answer would be in the affirmative. Being sick is not living. Enduring pain is not living. Experiencing surgery or chemotherapy is not living. Living is the absence of human suffering, the blissful state of ultimate health: spirit, soul, and body. Surprisingly enough, achieving ultimate health is not impossible. It is a matter of choice. The only requirement is to change your lifestyle. Start living by adopting wholesome health habits. Examine your life and see where improvements can be made. Decisions regarding diet are fundamental. We are what we eat. We are what we think. Begin making better choices in what you put into your mouth and what thoughts you entertain. Here are a few 'don't be's' to consider: 1) Don't be surprised when you discover that you need to relearn life's lessons. 2) Don't be so enamoured of or entrenched in your present lifestyle that you aren't willing to make improvements. 3) Don't be too proud to admit that you've accepted a standard of life for yourself that is substandard. Realize that you've been intellectually ignorant when it comes to understanding the true principles of good health, i.e. proper nutrition, exercise. 4)Don't be surprised when you learn that the Standard American diet has been letting you down. These are the facts of life. Thought the truth often hurts, it does set you free. Better to accept the truth than suffer the consequences. If you truly want to live, making healthy changes in your lifestyle will not be painful. In fact, it will be an exhilirating experience. Here are some 'do's' to consider: 1) Do some personal research into issues of health, especially in relation to diet. Investigate the Standard American Diet and the natural, live food diet. Personal discovery inspires and motivates! 2) Do some homework: make a list of what what you are eating and why. Read ingredient labels. Question your lifesyle choices. 3) Do yourself a favor by deciding to improve the quality of your life. Take the responsibility to be kind to yourself by making choices that will enhance your well being and ultimately bless others. 4) Do a little at a time to correct your toxic lifestyle. If you are not willing or able to make a complete change all at once, take small steps toward your goal. When it comes to achieving superior health, how you run the race is up to you. Depending upon your choices, you can become a little bit health or ultimately healthy. Though individual approaches will vary, those who are serious about reaching the goal of optimum health will all agree that live food is the breakfast, lunch, and dinner of champions, and that proper exercise is a friend not a foe. When all is said and done, those who fuel their bodies with live food far out distance the SADeater. Considering the health risks facing the average American inherent in a diet of fast, fake foods, lack of personal exercise, food safety issues, GMO contamination, meat and dairy processing violations, pesticide and fertilzer toxicity, soil depletion, air and water pollution, toxic personal and household products, environmental abuse, etc. plus increasing health care costs, modern medical fiascos, hospital and doctor malpractices, it would seem that there is no better time than the present to pursue a natural, wholesome lifestyle. Scripture says, 'Now is the acceptable day of salvation.' Scripture also says, 'What, therefore, hinders you from being saved?'...in this case, saved from sickness, pain, emotional distress, mental agony, a broken health care system, financial strain, ruin or death? Why risk the ravages of these woes when there is a better way to live? Now is the time to 'be healthy.' Change your ways. Improve your lifestyle before it is too late. If you are willing to embark upon the high road to ultimate health, the possibilities are endless and the results remarkable. Be healthy and see!

BioPro Technology
For a number of years we have been educating others about the potential health risks associated with EMFs (electrical magnetic frequencies) inherent in all types of electrical devices. These unseen, magnetic waves emit radiation that is harmful for the body. These frequencies can kill. Whereas our high tech world of cell phones, computers, TVs, hair dryers, microwaves, toasters, etc. offer us unparralled convenience and opportunity, they also have a deadly downside. BioPro Technology offers a solution for safely harmonizing harmful EMFs, so as to render personal technology use friendly and healthy. BioPro protection is both affordable and affective. We have been using their products for a few years with successful. If you are interested in learning more about BioPro and how it can protect you and your family from the EMF fallout, visit http://www.MyBioPro.com/thelivingway.htm
Farmers' Markets
Much to the delight of many locals, our area farmers' market opened last month with a due amount of fanfare. Seeing our farmer friends and sharing in their harvest of home-grown goodies is a weekly treat. We encourage you to investigate, frequent, and support your local farmers' market. Familiarize yourself with what is happening 'down on the farm' in your area. With higher fuel prices, questionable availability of foodstuffs, etc., buying local becomes an attractive option. For more information about farmers' markets and food-related issues in Maine, visit http://www.snakeroot.net Aimee's Living Magic Raw foodism is gaining in popularity in Maine, and if you're in the market for some exceptionally healthy, raw, delicious eats, check out Aimee Perrin's cuisine. Aimee is a raw food aficionado in southern Maine with connections to David Wolfe, internationally renown raw foodist. 5. LIVING Recipe: No Bean Hummus
A few years ago a fellow health minister shared this delicious recipe. We like it because it is bean-less, easy to make, and tastes great. Lily has improved upon the recipe by adding herbs and onion. Try it and let us know how you like it!
NO BEAN HUMMUS
2 large zucchini
5-7 garlic
3/4 cup fresh lemon juice
3/4 cup sesame seeds (ground)
3/4 cup raw tahini
1/8- 1/4 cup hemp or olive oil
2 stalks celery large handful fresh herbs of choice (parsley, dill, lemon balm, etc.)
1 small red pepper (optional)
1 tsp. dulse (optional) dash cayenne pepper dash Himalayan saltShred zuchinni, chop celery, garlic and herbs. Process them in a food processor, utilizing the S blade. Add remaining ingredients and process until creamy smooth. Place in a glass cover dish and let stand for a couple hours before serving. Keeps for a couple days refrigerated. Happy eating! For optimum nutrition, go organic! __________________________________________
