            Ministry update
            Dear
            Friends,
            Greetings
from Maine- land of lakes, oceans,
mountains, and living foods! Fields are bursting
with ripening harvests, and farmers' markets
are bustling with healthy activity. This is the life
here in Maine! As summer winds down and slides
into fall, everyone is savoring the sunny, warm,
and recently HOT remnants of the season.

Speaking fondly of the joys of summer, we are happy
to report that our sixth annual LIVE FOOD
            PICNIC was
a memorable success. It was a
            picture-perfect evening
at Fort Halifax Park where eleven of us gathered to
feast on living food, fresh air, friendly sun and
            water,
and most of all healthy fellowship. Live salads,
            soups,
desserts, fruit, and snacks were enjoyed by all.
            Topping
our feast of living food was live guitar music
            performed
by one of our attendees. We thank those of you who
joined us for this festive celebration of healthy
            living!

Our HANDS-ON HEALTH meeting this Thursday will
            feature the award-winning film, 'InGREEDients.'
            This
video presentation promises to educate, entertain,
            enlighten,
and energize the viewer concerning the importance of
            diet
and bring into question: what are you eating?
            If you have
never examined your eating habits, food choices, and
and personal lifestyle, this film will compel you to
            do so.
For the sake of your better health, we encourage you
            to
see this film. It could revolutionize your life.

Later this week we are hosting a special event: ATLAS
AWARENESS DAY with Christine Bemish, RN and
            AtlasPROFilax®
            Method Specialist. This event offers
an in-depth education into the importance of a
            properly
aligned atlas vertebra as well as a natural solution
            to
            correct misalignment of this strategically-located
            bone.
Many physical, emotional, and mental problems have
been rectified by realignment of the atlas vertebra.

            This
            month's featured article, 'The Spiritual
            Roots of Health'
continues with Part 2 of an investigation into the
            hidden
cause(s) of most physical, emotional, and mental
            problems.
This writing will expose the excesses that
            hinder us in
the journey toward ultimate health. While
            addressing this
topic might be considered controversial, it is
            important to
shed light on an area that deserves attention. Health
            is
more than meets the eye. It involves the welfare of
            the
whole man: body, soul, and spirit. Therefore I
            encourage
you to take time to read, meditate, and ponder 'The
Spiritual Roots of Health- Part 2' as a
            personal challenge
to press onward and upward toward a higher level of
            health.

In spite of the troublous times in which we live,
            those of us
at The Living Way continue to rejoice in the goodness
            of
our Heavenly Father to keep us safe and healthy. We
            enjoy
many blessings, most of which are simple but
            meaningful.
We have a beautiful garden with an overwhelming
            harvest
of tomatoes, tomatillos, squash, beans, beets, and
            greens.
The warm, sunny days are bringing the crops to
            maturity
very quickly. A recent inspection of our concord
            grape
vines reveals a record-breaking harvest. As one might
expect, we run to keep up with the incoming food.
            What
we do not or can not eat fresh is dehydrated or
            frozen for
future use. What we store now will be happily enjoyed
during the coming winter months. Take a peek at some
of our garden harvest and read updates to my garden
            log here.
            In
closing, we welcome those who are new to our mailing
list and thank each of you who supports this
            ministry. Your
walk into ultimate health is important to us.
            Therefore, do
not sell yourself short. Live each day as though your
            life
depends upon your actions, for it does. The law of
            the
harvest is real: we reap what we sow. Too many are
            sick
and dying. Don't be one of them. Make healthier
            choices for
yourself so that you can experience heavenly health now.
You can do it. Prove to yourself and others that 'you
            don't
            have to be sick!'

New furnace- winter is coming and
            our ministry home
needs a new furnace. Estimates for a new unit with
a solar hot water tank are upwards of $15,000. Most
of the year we live without hot water which is not an
            easy
lifestyle. Please pray that a new furnace will arrive
            soon,
since otherwise we will be forced to burn wood which
would create a challenge difficult for us to bear.

            3) Feature
Article: 'The Spiritual Roots of Health-
            Part 2'
            Last month I began addressing
            personal wellbeing from
the hidden, often overlooked, perspective of spirituality.
I submitted that viewing health problems from this
            vantage
point is worth investigating in order to effectively
            resolve
issues of illness, be they physical, emotional or
            mental.
In Part 1 I diagnosed the root cause(s) of
            most health
problems as being a combination of spiritual
            deficiencies,
namely lack of knowledge, faith, obedience, and
            personal
            responsibility. Review in depth 'The
            Spiritual Roots of
Health- Part 1' here. In an effort to further explore the
            nature
and origin(s) of ill health, I now proceed with Part
            2 of this
series and present spiritual excesses that hinder our
wellbeing and keep us from attaining ultimate health.

Maine Organic Farmers and Growers Association
            Building a natural, wholesome lifestyle
            begins with learning
the basics of living on the land and cultivating a
            self-
sufficient way of life. The Maine Organic Farmers and
Growers Association (MOFGA) is a valuable resource
for agricultural, environmental, and social issues
            relating
to grass roots living. MOFGA offers a variety of
            programs,
workshops, and events that educate, inspire, and
            promote
sustainable living. They also host the Common Ground
            Fair,
one of Maine's most popular annual agricultural

            Though
the garden season is winding down in many parts
of the country, here is a good resource for the
            would-be
backyard farmer. I recently discovered this website a
            few
weeks ago and happily learned of this husband-wife
            team
in northeast Florida who work their .5 acre homesite
            the
natural way. Their gardening experience and
            subsequent

            6) LIVING
            Recipe: Yellow Summer Soup

One of my summer pleasures is
            harvesting our Sun Gold
tomatoes. Though I consider myself patient, I admit
            to
being anxious for these yellow-orange jewels to
            ripen.
Besides eating them like candy, I use them in raw
            soups,
salads, and side dishes. This raw soup is simple,
            easy
to make, while highlighting some of summer's
            delicacies.
Celebrate the season by blending up the following:

Handful of fresh Sun Gold cherry tomatoes (or
            equivalent)
1 large handful fresh yellow wax beans
            1 stalk celery
3-4 inches of a large, fresh cucumber
            few stems parsley
            few stems fresh marjoram
1 small scallion or sliced onion equivalent
            (optional)
            1 large clove garlic
            Dash of Himalayan Salt
            Purified water as needed
            For variety, make
            substitutions, i.e. summer squash or
different tomato varieties and/or tomatillos. Pour
            into
serving bowls, garnish with a shake of paprika or
            dulse, and eat up!
            Organic ingredients
            always recommended.
