            Ministry update
            Dear
            Friends,
            Where
did summer go? All of a sudden it's fall and
the harvest is coming in quickly and abundantly!
            Crisp
days are here, and winter is on its way. It's the
            time of
celebration as the growing season comes to a glorious
finale, and folks everywhere busily scramble to
            handle
their garden treasures before the days of deep freeze
            begin.
            From
talking with local farmers, it would seem that
this year's growing season came on with rapidity and
is coming to a close at the same pace. Those of us
at The Living Way are in this shuffle of keeping up
            with
the harvest as it is happening. Fall is always the
            busiest
time of year for us, nevertheless a joyous one as we
thank YHVH for a plentiful harvest that will last us
            into
            the next year.
            In
celebration of the fall season, the theme of this
month's HANDS-ON HEALTH meeting is 'Handling
            the Harvest.' It
            will be a multi-facted presentation
that will give insight and practical tips into how to
            enjoy
the fall harvest and extend it into the winter
            months.
Discussed will be matters of food preparation,
            storage,
and preservation. The evening promises to be
            friendly,
informative, and creative. Plan to join us and bring
            a
friend. Details about the meeting are posted here.

By way of report, last month's ATLAS
            AWARENESS
DAY with Christine Bemish, RN was a
            resounding
success as several in our area (myself included!)
received remarkable results by having the atlas
            correction. Since response was enthusiastic,
            Christine
returns this month by popular demand. Some are
seeing years of chronic pain, visual impairment, back
problems, numbness, etc. disappear for as a result
of the atlas correction. We encourage you to
            attend
Christine's free lecture on Friday, October 22
            to
hear her personal testimony, learn more about this
non-invasive, natural therapy plus talk with others
who have recently experienced the atlas correction.
Appointments are being taken for Saturday,
October 23 (please note the change of date
            for
this event). Learn more about ATLAS
            AWARENESS
            DAY here.
            This
month's featured article will be the conclusion of
my series entitled, 'The Spiritual Roots of
            Health.'
The focus of these writings has been to
            enlighten as
well as challenge the reader to that higher level of
living known as 'ultimate health.' If we are to
            experience
wholeness, it is necessary to educate ourselves
concerning the process. It is my hope that what I
present in 'The Spiritual Roots of Health-
            Part 3'
will help you better travel the road of life that you
might arrive at the glorious destination of wonderful
wellbeing. Consider this series as a prayer for your
personal wholeness. Parts 1 and 2
            are archived here
            for your reference.
            As
usual, links to various news articles follow along
in this letter. There are countless reports that
            could
be shared, but I include ones that should pique your
interest. Worthy to note is that Senate Bill 510 was
not voted upon before the 111th Congress adjourned
last week. This development is encouraging news
for those of us who value personal health freedom
which includes choosing clean, non GMO food to eat
and growing your own vegetable garden. Continue to
stave off political tyranny by voicing your
            opposition
to this bill. Contact your elected officials while
            time
is in our favor. For up-to-date reports visit
            http://www.healthfreedomusa.org
            Closer
to home, those of us at The Living Way have
been running to keep up with the harvest. Our kitchen
is buzzing nearly 24/7 as dehydrators hum with
            pleasure
at their contents. We are pulling out trays of
            crackers,
fruit leathers, salads, chips, and assorted greens.
            We
lovingly pack them away for winter use. While our
backyard garden is slowly fading away, the harvest is
still surprisingly plentiful. Daily I am bringing in
            greens,
tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, herbs, and more. Our
Concord Grape harvest weighed in at a record 107lbs!
Read all about our lastest backyard exploits in our
            on-going Garden Log
            2010.
            Last
month we treated ourselves by attending the
Common Ground Fair. Touted as being one of the
nation's top-ranked agricultural fairs, we were
            delighted
to engage the event with healthy enthusiasm and enjoy
the opportunity to see agricultural activities 'up
            close
and personal.' We saw farmer friends, viewed
            exhibits,
and learned more about local 'green' happenings. For
us the highlight of the Fair is always the Exhibition
            Hall
where farmers and growers 'exhibit their wares' in
friendly competition. Viewing the handiwork of fellow

growers is always a special treat. It's like a giant
show-and-tell with hundreds of entries displayed
on long tables and risers. I had ten entries and
won nine awards, two of which were Judges'
Awards (rarely given, I am told). What a thrill!
Learn more about my Fair entries and honors here.
In closing, we hope that you
            are making progress
on the high road to health! In case you are not
            aware,
living healthy is a lot of fun! The body temple is
            built,
maintained, and restored by living foods, so give
            your
body what it wants. Eat well to live well. Prove to
yourself and others that there is a better way to
            live
beyond sickness, pain, and disease. Be a walking
testimony of the remarkable truth that
'You don't have to be sick!'

Article: 'The Spiritual Roots of Health-
            Part 3'

Finding one's way through life often presents
            challenges,
if not formidable dilemmas. What to do, how to do it,
where to go and where not to go can become daily
connundrums that often baffle, especially when trying
            to
resolve issues of personal health. Suffice to say,
            along
life's highway there are no sign posts, no traffic
            lights,
no road markers to physically give us directions.

A number of years ago we

            Vitamin D3
Winter is coming and as the sun drops lower
            in the sky,
so does the amount of the 'sunshine vitamin,' Vitamin
            D,
decrease. Low levels of Vitamin D can cause numerous
            health problems: heart,
            brain, blood pressure, joint, and
skin problems as well as weak bones, mood swings
(including depression), low blood sugar levels,
            fatigue,
and a weakened immune system. Vitamin D deficiency
can also cause Seasonal Affective Disorder. Because
Vitamin D helps regulate cell growth, it has proven
affective in preventing and reversing many types of
cancer. Vitamin D also aids in the body's ability to
absorb calcium boost brain function, and much more.
Consider supplementing your diet with Vitamin D.

            6) LIVING
            Recipe: Root Slaw

            My prize-winning
            Forono Cylindrical Beets
            As we move into the
colder months of the year, root
vegetables are an excellent salad solution. Hardly
and 'meaty', roots are mineral rich and their tops
nutritionally dense. While beets, carrots, jerusalem
artichokes, etc. are commonly cooked and eaten,
they are more nutritious in the raw, being
            surprisingly
sweet, succulent, and tender. Give 'raw rooties' a
            try
by making this seasonably appealing salad!
            3-4 red beets
            2-3 large carrots
            Handful broccoli florets
            Assorted greens of choice
            Red onion slices or scallions
            1/4 cup shredded red cabbage
            1/4 cup shredded green cabbage
            1/3 cup walnuts (presoaked, rinsed)
1/2 cup sesame seeds (presoaked, rinsed)
            Fresh herbs of choice
            Couple tablespoons fresh lemon juice
            A little fresh, grated ginger
            Grate beets and
carrots, placing them in a large mixing
bowl. Break greens into bite-sized pieces and toss
            into
mixture. Add remaining ingredients and toss well. Let
sit unrefrigerated for a couple hours before serving
            in
            order for flavors to marry.
            Organic ingredients
            are always recommended.
