once again from the wild, woolly, wet
reaches of Maine! Monsoon season is upon us
as the now annual deluge keeps outdoor life,
especially gardening, at bay. Thus while the sky
is falling, Mainers like myself are happy to be
indoors away from the wet. With patient endurance
we will wait for the season of sun and fun. We
know that it is out there somewhere!
As summer approaches, we are 'stepping healthy'
here at The Living Way. Despite the weather, our
garden is over halfway planted. Seeds sown in
love and joy are 'up and at it.' Harvests of healthy
herbs and greens are coming into the kitchen
daily. Our blenders are busy turning out super
soups and smoothies, while our food processor
whips up special salads, entrees, and treats. As
much as possible we keep our dehydrators
humming, drying assorted greens, wild edibles,
crackers, and assorted GraiNolas. All in all,
we are enjoying healthy fun!

with terminal prostate cancer which was a surprise

Recipe: Raw Asparagus Dip
One of the first
'specials' of spring is asparagus.
This exotic vegetable enjoys its own distinct flavor,
properties, and health benefits. A natural diuretic
that supports kidney and digestive health plus a
powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant,
asparagus is a super healthy choice for living
1 celery stalk
few slices of onion or scallions
3-4 Tbsp. hemp seed
5-6 slices dehydrated tomatoes (pre-soaked
in 1 cup water)
Fresh herbs: oregano, thyme
few dashes Himalayan salt
1 cup pure water
Chop asparagus, celery, onion and blend with
tomatoes and water. Add remaining ingredients
and blend until creamy-thick, adding more water,
if necessary. As a variation, use pre-soaked
cashews instead of or in addition to hemp seed.
Serve as a dip or as a topping for raw wraps.
Either way, it is very rich experience!
