Ministry update
Dear
Friends,
It's
summer in Maine and the living is healthy! While the
skies are blue, the sun shines, and temperatures are
ever-so-delightful, this artist-health minister is
happily
gardening and bringing in armfuls of luscious, live
goodies
from the backyard. Our semi-urban homestead is indeed
a delight as we harvest our 'homegrowns' for our
daily
meals. This is the ultimate shopping experience for a
live
foodist! Suffice to say, our garden is bursting with
life:
varieties of greens, squashes, nightshades, herbs,
berries,
and wild edibles. A walk through the garden is like
entering
another world, a healthy one to be sure! Read our
latest
garden report and see new photos here.
While our garden blossoms with delicious, live food,
those
of us at The Living Way rejoice in the growing
momentum
that our health ministry is experiencing. We are
happy
to report that our participation in last month's
Sixth Annual
Vegetarian and Vegan Food Festival in Portland was a
resounding success. It was 'standing-room-only' for
our
juicing demonstration. Over fifty people packed into
a room
to watch Lily and me juice up a fresh vegetable combo
with
our new Hurom Slow Juicer. We passed out nearly three
quarts of juice to an enthusiastic, appreciative
audience.
Children particularly enjoyed the juice and came back
a few
times for more! We were happy to share the health
message
with over 500 people at the Food Fest and look
forward to
helping the many new contacts that we made!
In an effort to bring the Hurom home, so to speak,
this
week's HANDS-ON HEALTH meeting will be a Live
Food
Demonstration that will feature the Hurom Juicer.
We
will put this dandy slow juicer into action as well
as
demonstrate how to build a salad, how to make living
food
appealing, how to set up a natural kitchen, and more.
This
'how-to' demonstration promises to take the mystery
and
guess work out of eating healthy. Plan to join us for
an
adventure into living
cuisine. Bring family and friends.
Samples will be available. For more information about
our HANDS-ON HEALTH meeting, click here.
For an added treat, plan to attend our annual
LIVE
FOOD PICNIC in August. Traditionally, this
picnic is a non-
threatening social event for live food converts as
well as
would-be 'Hallelujah Dieters' or skeptics, since it
is an
opportunity to experience healthy eating
'up-close-and-
personal.' Those who have been following the new
Hallelujah
Acres 60 Day Challenge or Weight Loss Programs are
encouraged to share their progress and testimonies!
Invite
family, friends and most of all- bring a live food
dish to share! Details about the picnic will be
posted on our website soon.
On a separate and sobering note, please be vigilante
when it comes to the issue of personal health
freedom.
While spirits soar for holidays, vacations, and
summer
activities, be aware that politicians take no rest in
determining
your quality of life.
On June 10, 2010 an Executive Order
was signed, establishing the National Prevention,
Health
Promotion, and Public Health Council of
which the
Surgeon-General is Chair. As you might expect, this
gathering
of political minds has little, if anything, to do
with personal
wellbeing as much as it does to destroy it. This
Council
appears to be a prelude to implementing the infamous
and
dreaded 'food regulations' known as Codex
Alimentarius.
Codex has already been enacted in Europe as well as
Canada, and it is coming quickly to the US. History
proves
that food control is the ultimate weapon for
destroying
peoples and nations. For the sake of your personal
wellbeing,
we encourage you to educate yourself about this
important
issue and consider becoming proactive. For more
information,
visit http://www.healthfreedomusa.org
In light of events as they are unfolding in the Gulf,
both
Mexico and Persian, we encourage you to take the
necessary
steps for ensuring your personal welfare and that of
your
family. Take charge of your health the natural,
'Hallelujah'
way, while there is yet time. Become as
self-sufficient as
possible, so as to avoid 'help' from government(s).
Most of
all, be repented-up, prayed-up, and prepared for days
coming that promise to be rocky. A better world is
coming,
but it will arrive amidst great upheaval. Therefore,
keep the
Faith, do not despair but prepare.
In closing, we encourage you to take advantage of the
summer
season by making healthier lifestyle choices. We are
receiving increased numbers of 'distress calls' from
people who are
in the middle of various health crises. As much as
possible, we counsel them with the knowledge we have
gained over
many years. Our desire is to save lives, but we also
realize that health is a choice. Therefore, avoid the
pitfalls of ill health by improving your diet and
lifestyle today! Thank you
for
supporting this ministry and being part of The Living
Way family. Together may we bring hope and healing to
the world, proving the remarkable truth, 'You
don't have to be sick!'
Prayer requests:
Erik- battling Stage 4 Non-Hodgkins
Lymphoma. He did
succumb to and thankfully survived conventional
medical
treatments. However, his family has now purchased a
Hurom juicer and will begin a juicing program this
week.
Al (Erik's dad)- just diagnosed with
prostate cancer and is
beginning to change his diet for the better.
Betty (Erik's mother)- heading up
the Hurom juicing program
for the family. Pray for deliverance from alcohol and
nicotine.
Frank- a dear brother in Messiah who is a
long-time diabetic with related heart problems. He is
currently in a natural health clinic to receive help
and healing via a raw food diet.
If you or someone you know
would like to be added to
our prayer list, please let us know. Also, at the end
of
this month, we will have no transporation
unless a
replacement shows up. Our present car has
served
us well, but it will not pass another inspection.
Suffice
to say, the ministry needs new wheels in order to
continue functioning! Thank you for your prayerful
consideration.

3) Feature
Article: 'Eating Healthy on the Road'
Summer is the season
of family outings, picnics, and
vacations. Making these events healthy, however, can
pose challenges for those pursuing the live food
lifestyle.
Most social gatherings and restaurants only offer
Standard
American Diet favorites, so what is the Hallelujah
Dieter to
do? Eating a living foods diet thus becomes a lesson
in
strategy and logistics for those who want to 'eat
healthy!'
Thankfully there are ways to make eating healthy on
the road not only possible but fun and easy.

6) LIVING
Recipe: Coconut Custard
A few months ago I began
to hunger for a young
coconut. Since this is a specialty food here in the
far reaches of Maine, purchasing one necessitated
a trip to the big city. So it was that while we were
recently in Portland, we shopped Whole Foods for
some good organics and packed a couple of young
coconuts into our cart. This morning I took the
plunge
and successfully opened one of the 'nuts in order to
create a special treat. The result was indescribably
delicious. Try this recipe with any fruit in season,
berries included!
Flesh of one young
coconut plus its water
1 small mango
1 golden delicious apple
1 tsp. vanilla
Learn how to open a
young coconut here.
Spoon out coconut
flesh and place in blender. Add cut up
mango and apple plus vanilla and coconut water. Blend
until
creamy smooth. Substitute mango with fresh
strawberries, blackberries, blueberries or
raspberries. Turn the custard
into a smoothie by adding more water! Either way, the
taste is sensational!
Organic ingredients
always recommended.
