Ministry update
Dear
Friends,
It is
the merry month of May as Maine basks in
unseasonably warm, sunny weather. The landscape
is coming alive in shades of luscious greens with
displays
of flowering narcissus, daffodils, tulips, crocus,
hiacynth,
forsythia, and more! It is a delight to see the world
awaken again as we enjoy a foretaste of the summer
season!
As you might imagine, those of us at The Living Way
are
happily drinking in the fresh air and sunshine,
celebrating
the season by eating our daily lunch outdoors. We are
thankful for the blessing of an early spring, but
more
importantly, we are grateful for the quality of life
that we
experience. To help bring the live food diet
to life for
those around us, our up-coming HANDS-ON HEALTH
meeting will feature the video, 'A Day on the
Hallelujah
Diet' plus a short talk and demonstration afterwards.
This presentation will serve as a 'how-to' for those
who
are launching out into the live food lifestyle. Plan
to join
us for an educational, eventful evening. Feel free to
bring
family and friends! More information about the
meeting
is here.
If you want to catch The LIVING WAY in more action,
come and see us in full swing at the Sixth Annual
Vegetarian Food Festival next month. This
annual event
is a known crowd-pleaser that boasts many healthy
exhibits,
demonstrations, and free give-aways. We will have an
exhibit
table plus conduct a juicing demonstration, starring
the new
Hurom juicer. This should be an
exciting venue for us!
We are told that attendance last year exceeded 750.
The four hour Food Festival promises to be a
high-spirited
education into healthier living. We hope to see you
there!

Regarding other healthy info, please take time to
read
the news articles shared in the 'LIVING resources'
section
of this newsletter. For the sake of health and
survival, it is important to keep informed on a
number of issues, especially
the annual CODEX meeting that is now in progress in
Canada. If you are not aware, CODEX is a major threat
to
personal health freedom in the USA. It is aimed to
outlaw
the pursuit of a natural, wholesome lifestyle and
replace it
with a sickness- oriented way of life that is ruled
by toxic
politicians, toxic governments, toxic agribusinesses,
and, last
but not least, toxic pharmaceutical companies.
Suffice to say,
this sickness industry does not have your best
interests at
heart, much less your optimum health, in mind. We
thus
encourage you to educate yourself on this
all-important health
freedom issue and consider becoming proactive. If the
recent
passage of the Health Care Reform Bill wasn't good
enough,
CODEX promises to do much more. It will be good-bye
to
organic food, healthy supplements, home gardening,
herbal
remedies, etc. Wake up and take action. The fight of
your life
is in progress. For more information, visit
http://www.healthfreedomusa.org
Those
who enjoyed 'dining raw' will be sad to learn that
GRO, Maine's first and only raw restaurant,
closed,
having succumbed to lack of patronage. It is
painfully
obvious that the understanding of living foods is yet
largely
undiscovered, unpopular and/or ignored in this
present society.
Nevertheless, GRO lives on as a worker cooperative.
Owner and originator of GRO foods, Igor Rauk,
reports,
'We have joined with Living Earth Farm and other
compassionate food sovereignty advocates. We are a
dynamic group wanting to share in our community and
are
looking for like minded others. GRO is the only
100% organic
vegetarian restaurant in the state. We have a nursery
on Rte
302, GRO THE GARDEN in Windham, and a
farm in Skowhegan.' For more information about the
GRO cooperative, contact Igor at UNIR1@GROFOODS.COM.
Speaking
of gardening, with much conscientious effort on my
part, most of our garden is ready to plant. The
warmer weather
has brought our herbs, perennials, and fruit trees to
life earlier
this year. Keeping up with the harvest is already a
challenge.
If you would like some herbs to plant or harvest, let
us know.
We are happy to share. I have recently made some new
postings on our website. See photos from our 2010
Live Food
Dinner here. I have also
updated our 2010 garden log which
includes pictures of our blossoming fruit trees.
Take a look here!
In
closing, we welcome all of our new subscribers and
express
our thanks to those who email, stop by, and share
their needs
and/or progress in learning to live healthy. As we
care for one
another, we will all enjoy a quality of life that
will not only be
personally rewarding but give hope to those around
us. While
the world continues to suffer from a multitude of
wrongs, it is
encouraging to know that there is a right way to care
for our
bodies. Therefore, commit yourself to healthy
pursuits. Plant
a garden, frequent farmers' markets, and treat
yourself to the
wonder of living foods. Discover how remarkable life
can be.
Truly, you don't have to be sick!

3) Feature
Article:"EXERCISING for Life!"
Exercising is a
natural expression of life. It is an
opportunity for the body to engage its many members
in a show of motion that at times can only be
described
as beautiful. Consider the first steps taken
by a child
or those of a recovering accident victim. Regard with
awe the grace and stamina of an athlete or dancer.
Reflect upon a surgeon who holds life and death in
the
agility of his hands.Without a doubt, the body was
designed to perform a myriad of actions that are
truly remarkable!

Recipe:
Spring
Smoothie
With spring in full swing, taste the season with a
delicious, nutritious green smoothie! As Farmers'
Markets open and bags of fresh greens appear,
take advantage of the goodness. Enjoy the sweetness
of fruit in combination with generous portions of
life-giving, chlorophyll-rich GREENS! Here is a
smoothie that
celebrates the season:
1 apple
1 orange
1 celery stalk
handful parsley (and/or mint!)
handful dandelion greens
handful baby greens (lettuce or spinach, etc.)
slice of fresh ginger to taste
1-2 Tbsp. hemp seed or oil
1-2 cups approx. of purified water
Cut up fruit, celery,
and greens. Place water in blender
and gradually blend ingredients until creamy smooth.
Pour in a tall glass and sip slowly to savor the
season!
NOTE: When harvesting dandelion greens, choose
plants that grow in safe, non-polluted areas, i.e.
away
from roadways and/or chemical run-offs.
Organic ingredients recommended.
